Ancient Roman Empire, A Bronze Jug With Figural Motifs, circa 1st century AD, has an elegant ovoid form with a flattened bottom bearing a series of concentric designs in relief, the body extends into a gently flared neck with nicely worked rim, the handle was separately made and consists of three parts the upper section which is decorated by palmettes and wraps around the rim, the central section and a lower medallion which is attached to the shoulder of the piece, the central section bears relief images of a garland, a Nilotic bird and the head of an Ethiopian. Dimensions Size: 30,6 cm ( 12 inches ) Height. Ex private NY collection.
